Catálogo de ejemplares tipo del orden Coleoptera (Insecta) en el Museo Nacional de Costa Rica

Resumen

RESUMEN. Se realizó una investigación para determinar cuáles holotipos de Coleoptera están depositados físicamente en el Museo Nacional de Costa Rica. Para ello, se efectuó una búsqueda y revisión de literatura sobre las publicaciones de cada especie presente en la colección de holotipos de Coleoptera del MNCR. De 471 holotipos presentes hoy día en el MNCR se encontraron las respectivas publicaciones. Se localizaron también 22 especímenes etiquetados como holotipos, de los cuales no se ha encontrado aún una publicación. Se encontró publicaciones de descripción de 50 holotipos que no fueron depositados en lo que fue la colección de Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad o actualmente el MNCR, a pesar de ser mencionada alguna de estas instituciones como depositaria. Los 471 holotipos, pertenecen a 27 familias de Coleoptera. Esta investigación pretende dar a conocer las especies de holotipos que están físicamente en la colección del MNCR y que poseen publicación, así como la contribución para la devolución de holotipos que no se encuentran en la misma y que son importantes para la investigación de biodiversidad en el orden Coleoptera.
